Brent E. Finley MD MBA

Dr. Finley completed his undergraduate degrees at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, and his medical school degree at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He also completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident from 1982-1983, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Finley was the recipient of the Outstanding Junior Resident Award in 1982 and the Outstanding Senior Resident Award in 1983. In addition to the Outstanding Senior Resident Award, Dr. Finley was awarded with the Upjohn Achievement Award for Outstanding Senior Residents in 1983. Following his residency, he became a Fellow in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Center in San Antonio Texas.

Dr. Finley has been Board Certified in Maternal-Fetal Medicine for 27 years. He returned to the Kansas City metro area to establish the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center and was Division Chief for 10 years. He and three other maternal-fetal medicine physicians, including Tracy Cowles and Louis Ridgway, established Midwest Perinatal Associates in 1994. Midwest Perinatal Associates has continued to provide service to the two-state region over the last 20 years.

During the last years with Midwest Perinatal, Dr. Finley has obtained additional certification as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer in both obstetrics and gynecology and in fetal echocardiography. He also continues to write questions for board certification exams in both areas.

Dr. Finley has a developed interest in patient safety and quality of care and has obtained an American Society of Quality designation as a Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence. In addition, he has been designated a site reviewer for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence Program (SCOPE).

In his off hours, Dr. Finley enjoys reading, exercise, art and "dabbles" in painting. He is married to Pam and they have two sons.
